The Bible is full of other restrictions on marriage, and I’m sure no true believer would want to single out one small item to legislate and totally ignore the rest of the Good Book. I recently received a list of proposed amendments, with relevant Biblical references, that I’m sure the defenders of marriage will believe are just as crucial as the gay issue, since they all come out of the same Bible.

AMENDMENT XXIX.

No state may sanction marriage between a man and a woman who was married previously but has since divorced (Matthew 5:32).

AMENDMENT XXX.

No state may sanction marriage involving a widow (unless it is to her brother-in-law-sea amendment 34).
