But I&#8217;m still amused by our Ministry of Paranoia suggesting that it will protect us from all the dangers of the Axis of Evil.  Apparently this warning is being taken seriously by a large number of the American flock of sheep.  Hardware stores are selling out, and one manufacturer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hickoryrecord.com\/MGB4Y7HQ5CD.html\">reports<\/a> a 500% surge in orders and is running production lines around the clock. All the hysteria has reminded some people of scenes from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corky.net\/scripts\/drStrangelove.html\">Dr. Strangelove<\/a>, and even inspired <a href=\"http:\/\/php.indiana.edu\/~juschers\/\">Julia Scherschligt<\/a> to create this composite photo.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Being both a geek and a horse person, I have long known that duct tape is one of those essential items without which life as we know it would come to a halt.
