In recent days, GW Bush and Deadeye Dick Cheney have both attacked critics of Bush’s Iraq war escalations, saying the critics are not suggesting any alternatives. From GW:
\n“To oppose everything while proposing nothing is irresponsible.” From the Dickster: “They have absolutely nothing to offer in its place. I have yet to hear a coherent policy from the Democratic side.” That’s the kind of rhetoric that probably appeals to their base, who love anything that sounds good regardless of whether it’s true. It just so happens there has been at least one coherent policy suggested. I recently received email from my buddy, Ohio Congressman and presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, spelling out his 12-point proposal for resolution of the Iraq conflict.<\/p>\n

Now I suppose Cheney and Bush may not be on Dennis’ mailing list. And the media are still trying to make sure that nobody hears anything about Kucinich, so they haven’t given this topic any coverage. But it’s hard to believe that nobody at the White House has heard anything about it. Maybe they have, but haven’t passed it up the chain of command because it sounds better to say the Democrats have no plan than to try to argue with a plan that does exist and is much better than their own.<\/p>\n
\nIt may not be perfect. There may be some flaws in it. But I’d rather hear the White House tell me what they think those flaws are, than hear them tell me a plan that’s sitting right here in my inbox doesn’t exist.<\/p>\n
\nI did some quick browsing on Dennis’ website<\/a>, and the plan is posted there<\/a> for all to see.
